β‘ Auto Cut-Off Charger for Scooty
A safe and reliable automatic charging circuit for a 12V scooter battery, designed to prevent overcharging and extend battery life. This project uses relays, diodes, a comparator, and voltage sensing to create an efficient cutoff system.

Circuit Diagram of Auto Cut-Off Charger
β¨ Features
- π Automatic Cut-Off β Stops charging when the battery is fully charged.
- β‘ Overcharge Protection β Increases battery lifespan.
- π Relay-Based Switching β Ensures safe current handling.
- π Voltage Sensing β Uses LM358 comparator for precision.
- π οΈ DIY-Friendly β Built using easily available components.
βοΈ Working Principle
The charger works by continuously sensing the battery voltage. When the voltage reaches the preset threshold (full charge), the comparator triggers the relay to cut off the charging circuit, preventing overcharging. LEDs indicate the charging status, making this design safe and easy to monitor.
π§ How to Build
- Assemble the components: transformer, bridge rectifier, LM358 IC, relay, diodes, resistors, capacitors.
- Connect the circuit as shown in the diagram above.
- Adjust the reference voltage for the cut-off point using a preset.
- Test the system with a 12V battery and confirm auto cut-off functionality.
